This rare aquarium is made of ceramic with swirling contours that represent wood or kelp.  It has subtle colors of green, brown and ivory. The word BETAQUARIUM is stamped on the bottom, along with a logo that isn't legible to me. A panel of clear glass is inlaid in the front. There is a mirror attached to the interior that has lost much of its reflective surface over the course of its vintage life.

This aquarium is in wonderful condition with no chips or cracks and only some very minor crazing. It has one very small indentation on the edge of its base that resembles a chip but isn't, it's a part of the manufacturing process. Please see photos for details.  This aquarium seems to be watertight; I filled it with water and let it stand overnight without any leaking that I can see.  It wouldn’t be humane to keep a fish in it because it has very limited glass surface, but it looks great on display as a collectible aquarium. I did a lot of searches on the Internet and couldn't find another like it.  It most most likely made circa the 1950s / 1960s.  It measures approximately 7 1/2" inches height and 5 1/2" wide.
