This breathtaking Guan Yin sits, legs folded atop a mauve lotus blossom floating on turquoise waves. Her cape is brilliantly 24k gilded and cascades like liquid gold across her body. Her delicate hands hold a gilded vase and necklace. The vase is one of the eight Buddhist symbols of good fortune and contains the nectar of life. The necklace or rosary is associated with her calls upon Buddha for succor, each bead of it representing all living beings and the turning of the beads symbolizes that Guan Yin is leading them out of their state of misery and repeated rounds of rebirth into nirvana, hence the beads represent enlightenment. Her face is expertly hand painted with the stokes of single hairs for her eyebrows and hair line. She has been lightly cleaned, comes from a smoke free home.
