Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a very unique and beautiful Turner model 510 model Dynamic cardioid microphone from the 1960's complete with an original mic clip, cable in which to operate, data sheet, original stand as well as the vintage mic box in which to store the contents.

The 510 was virtually identical to the 500 model but I think they renamed it due to the unique stock painted scheme it comes with. It might be the OHMS setting as well? This 510 is set at 200 OHMS as where the typical 500 model is set at 150 OHMS.

Pic # 3 shows this very model and it's characteristics in an old Turner catalog. You won't be getting that catalog sheet but you will be getting the original 510 data sheet as seen in pic # 4 and it has a tone of specs on this mic that will come in handy.

Turner came out with this 500 model series of mic in the 1960's and was part of their modern line up of hand held mics intended to compete with the heavy hitters such as Shure Brothers And Electro Voice. It was a very practical design being easy to hold and had a very nice sound overall. Probably not as good as the Shure 545 of that period or the E.V 676 but it was Turner's shining star and the tone is really nice on these. Very high end mics. It does have excellent sound quality being uni-directional and set at Low impedance. Not super bass heavy but just the right amount.

The 500 series had a much more elegant style then the more aggressive Shure 545 and used a 4 pin XLR type connection. These mics tend to hold up very well with age so they seemed to have had a good quality build but many of these had the Turner 4 pin style cables which can be harder to come by today. Luckily this one still has the original cable.

Just like Shure Brother's who offered their 545 model mic with the lower pistol grip (545S) Turner did the same. I actually have a 500 with the lower pistol grip for sale here on Ebay and it works great. This 510 was the standard model however.

This 500 has been thoroughly cleaned and tested. Again, set at 200 OHMS it's great for singing and broadcasting purposes.

The die cast zinc alloy body comes with the stock grey finish. The screens are perfect and I replaced the inner foam pop filter as it was all but gone. Really helps cut back on unwanted feedback and pops. You can see it's in very nice physical condition with virtually no scratches, zero dents, engravings or corrosion. Very nice condition and you'll be very hard pressed to find one as nice as this. The mic is appx 7 inches long X 1 1/2 inch wide at the tip. This mic is built like a tank and has some good weight to it. Still, a very practical design.

I don't think this mic was ever used because I had to install a newer end connector on the cable. The cable was certainly never used I can tell you that much.

I'd rate the cosmetic condition a true 9 + on a scale of 1 - 10. Any wear on this mic was from simply moving around in the box over the years.

This 500 mic comes with it's original mic clip which is just as nice as the mic and it will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have. The clip is an all metal design with the same grey finish and even has the schematic for how to properly wire the mic for either high Z or low Z. The clip grips the mic firmly once it's inserted. These clips are quite hard to find and usually get misplaced over the years.

The 500 comes with a like new 18 foot cable that has the 4 pin XLR connection for the mic.   The cable is soft, pliable and in perfect working order. It has the new quality Switchcraft male 1/4 inch end connector for use with most audio equipment.

The mic even comes with it's original 4022 Turner model desk stand that provides a very stable platform for the 510 mic. It's an all metal design with the same grey painted finish and built in shock mount.

It really compliments the mic and a somewhat rare accessory. The mic stand is just as nice as the mic and still has the bottom rubber gasket to keep the stand from scratching any surface it sits on. You have everything you need and this mic is ready to go.

The vintage cardboard mic box is included and a great place to store all the contents. It's quite large and very lite weight. The case is in very good overall physical and operational condition. You'll really appreciate having this to store the mic. Has that classic 1960's vibe as well and these boxes are pretty hard to come by these days.

This is a very special find and one of the rarest Turner combo packages I have seen in a while. Will make a very special gift for anyone you know who sings or broadcasts on a regular occasion.
