.Rafael Melendez, having his conjoined RM mark, Taxco and 980 on the back of the pendant, c.1945.


Melendez worked with William Spratling starting in 1932 and opened his own Taller, Plateria Melendez, in 1939. 

This museum quality ~ 3 (three) carved green jade Aztec God Heads pendant .mounted on a 980 silver plaques having classic round silver balls borders and two rows of dangling silver ball pendants to the sides of each head. The indigenous Mexican Green Jade is roughly carved in the antique Aztec style adding to the old look... 

This pendant necklace measures  17 inches long  by 1 1/4 inches wide and weighs 51 grams 1.65 ozs. Troy. The entire piece is skillfully hand crafted with a hand assembled silver chain...
The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing. The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no monograms, removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
