Areas of significant wear and lightening of the velvet, particularly around the elbows and forearms. Lining has been repaired in part and/or replaced. Evidence of repair under the collar. THIS IS A VINTAGE 86 YEAR OLD BESPOKE DINNER/SMOKING JACKET made in 1937 for Lt. Col. N. G. Pearson that shows the wear and repairs, and carries a slight musty smell that one would expect from a pre-WWii garment. It is RARE garment in overall FAIR condition. Similar to the velvet jacket worn by Trevor Howard as Jack Soames in the film “White Mischief” when looking through a hole in the wall at Diana in the bathtub. Still suitable for personal wear, or a film/theatre production company wardrobe. A “statement” jacket ideal for the upcoming Thanksgiving-Christmas-New Year’s Eve holiday season.
