Harper & Brothers, New York (1919). First Edition/First Printing. Harper-Columbia Book That Sings - Bubble Book No. 8. Illustrator: Rhoda Chase. Singer: Bobby Shaftoe. 16 Pages. 6 x 7.25 Inches Book Condition: Near Fine.

"In 1917, Columbia formed a partnership with Harper & Brothers to produce a series of fourteen children's books - the "Bubble Books." These were the earliest series of books and records published together especially for children, and were known as the "Harper Columbia Book that Sings." The books tell the story of a lonely boy who was given a magical pipe by his fairy godmother. The pipe blows bubbles with Mother Goose characters inside that come to play with him and sing songs. Bound into each book are sleeves that hold three, single-sided, 5½" records. Children could play the records and sing along with the tune as they read the stories."

The book itself is in near fine condition. Clean bright pages, firm binding, vibrant covers, etc. Covers are in fantastic shape. All three 78 RPM records are present and in correct order. I do not have a gramaphone on hand, so I can't say for sure that they're functional. But they appear to be in pretty good shape as far as I can tell.
