This outstanding book contains a collection of 134 paintings in color created by Ray Swanson plus 14 color sketches. Also included are B&W photographs of his personal life.

Much of his art work focused on the Southwest Native peoples and Western life, but there are also paintings which feature other cultures in Europe and Asia and include his boyhood town in SE South Dakota. There is also information about his work in a 12 page appendix also includes an index of his total artwork and reproductions, exhibitions, publications and awards. The Chronology covers his personal and artistic life from 1937 to 1993. The artist died in 2004.
