The Flare down jacket is a great jacket for Spring or Fall and milder winters on its own. It is also a great insulating laying underneath a waterproof shell for all types of activities including winter sports like skiing, hiking, backpacking, trekking, travel, casual use. It's packs down small into its own pocket. It also has hook and loop closure so you can zip it in compatible The North Face jackets (compatibility does vary).
