Tuber Magnatum
Italian Truffle Tartufo Bianco - 30 grams!

Tuber magnatum, the white truffle or trifola d'Alba Madonna ("Truffle of the White Madonna" in Italian) is a species of truffle in the order Pezizales and family Tuberaceae; it is found in southern Europe.
Growing symbiotically with oak, hazel, poplar, and beech and fruiting in autumn, they can reach 12 cm (5 in) in diameter and 500 g, though they are usually much smaller. The flesh is pale cream or brown with white marbling. Italian white truffles are highly esteemed and are the most valuable on the market. In 2001, Tuber magnatum truffles sold for between $1000–$2200 per pound ($2200–$4800 per kg); as of December 2009, they were being sold at $14,203.50 per kilogram.

Stone oak seedlings (Quercus ilex), pedunculate oak (Quercus robur), and common hazelnut (Corylus avellana) are infected with the mycelium of black French truffle. Then, for several weeks, seedlings are quarantined under sterile conditions to ensure that the mycelium has taken root. Pedunculate oak grows throughout Ukraine, and the black truffle mycelium successfully takes root on its seedlings. After inoculation, seedlings are planted in a nursery. The first months of the nursery must be kept in conditions of strict quarantine, and the staff must strictly adhere to personal hygiene. The final establishment of mycorrhiza takes place over 12 months until the seedlings reach a height of 20 cm. It is crucial to infect not young oak plants but seedlings with mycelium - this is the only way to develop a well-established mycorrhiza on oak roots. In Australia, some farmers do not grow truffles but only inoculate seedlings, germinate them in a nursery, and sell them when they grow to 30 cm.

Several points are crucial in choosing a location for growing royal mushrooms:

Soil pH should not be less than 7.5; the optimal level is 7.9.
The soil should be rich in humus, calcium, well-aerated, without stones; deep mechanical processing of the soil is necessary before planting the seedlings.
There should be no other competing mushrooms in the soil.
Weeds should not be allowed around young oaks during planting and the first two years.
A relatively dry climate is essential (this condition is more critical for oaks than for truffles).
The average summer temperature should range from 16.5 - 22 °C.
The terrain should not be too hilly to simplify soil mechanical processing in the nursery.
Oak seedlings inoculated with truffle mycelium are planted in the spring when there is no threat of frost, in well-prepared and weed-free soil. General-limiting preparations with glyphosate are not suitable since even small residues in the soil can reduce the mycelium's survival rate. Herbicides with AD (Ammonium glufosinate) can be used, as they decompose quickly. Planting should follow the 5x4 m scheme, so there are no more than 500 trees per hectare. Fertilizing the soil before planting young trees is not advisable, as it can cause the death of truffle mycelium. During planting, it is essential to protect the root system where mycorrhiza is located. In each pit where young oaks are planted, pour in some water, cover the sapling firmly with soil, and then pour plenty of water over it. Planting should be done at a depth of about 75 cm to protect truffles from frost, pests, wind, and various sprays during tree care. Also, a layer of mulch (40 cm radius) should be placed near each tree. It is preferable to use the top layer of forest soil with fallen oak leaves as mulch. Young plants should be protected with plastic film.

Truffles are ectomycorrhizal fungi, forming mycorrhiza on the surface of the root system. Therefore, a sufficient area for the development of mycorrhiza for a single tree is 20 m². Other trees can also be grown whose mycorrhiza will stimulate the development of truffle mycorrhiza. Olive trees, citrus, sequoia, and flax can be used as companions for oak trees. Cultivating species such as poplar, willow, chestnut, lime, spruce, fir, and pine near truffle oaks is unacceptable.

Trees are fed with complex NPK fertilizers. A small amount of micronutrients such as iron, magnesium, copper, zinc, and boron should also be added. Hazelnuts inoculated with truffle mycelium can also be grown using this scheme.

The main pests of royal mushrooms are rabbits and pigs. Under no circumstances should they be allowed into the area where truffles are grown. Weevils (especially if field crops were previously grown in this area) and black cockroaches can also be present. Weeds can be controlled using herbicides.

The edible part of truffles is the fruiting bodies of mushrooms containing spores. They are buried 20 cm under the ground and can weigh from 500 g to 1.2 kg. Mature black French truffles are round or slightly elongated,
