The Ringed Bonnet is a striking mushroom, resembling a gray fly agaric in appearance. It's relatively small, typically ranging from 3 to 13 centimeters in height. The cap is broad, measuring 5 - 13 cm in diameter, and is light yellow or brown. Its name comes from its cap's small, hat-like shape. The stem is cylindrical, reaching up to 13 centimeters in height and 3 cm in diameter, and is light brown. The flesh is delicate and white, soft yet quite dense. This mushroom is conditionally edible with a distinct and intense mushroom taste and aroma. The Ringed Bonnet is best suited for boiling or pickling and is considered a delicacy. It falls under the fourth group in terms of its nutritional suitability.

Instructions for cultivating wood-destroying mushrooms using plant residues in bags (intensive method):

  1. Prepare a substrate that can be homogeneous, such as straw, or a combination of various components like straw, hay, and sawdust. Pour boiling water over the substrate.
  2. Allow the steamed substrate to cool naturally to +20 to +30 °C.
  3. Squeeze the substrate well and thoroughly mix it with mycelium (100 g per 40 kg of moistened substrate).
  4. Place the mixture in a transparent plastic bag, gently compressing it, and tie it up.
  5. Make several cuts, each 3-5 cm in size, across the entire surface of the bag for proper air exchange. The mushroom block is now ready.
  6. Position the blocks indoors or in a shaded area in the garden, using various methods, but hanging is preferable.
  7. Light is not necessary during the germination period (4-5 weeks). Initially, you'll observe a fuzziness on the surface, which will eventually turn the substrate white or slightly yellowish and form a dense block.
  8. After 1.5-2 weeks, the rudiments of fruiting bodies will appear, requiring light exposure.
  9. Cut openings in the film where the fruiting bodies are budding. Fruiting occurs in waves within 2-3 weeks. The first 2 waves yield the highest harvest.
  10. The timeframes mentioned are specific to oyster mushrooms. For shiitake and other mushrooms, it takes about 4 months from sowing to the first mushrooms.
Instructions for growing wood-destroying mushrooms on non-rotten deciduous wood (extensive method):

  1. Use bars, logs, or cuts of any size, preferably 30-40 cm long and 25 cm in diameter. Soak them in water for a week. Freshly cut ones may not need soaking or only require 1-2 days of soaking.
  2. Drill or create holes in the wood pieces and add mycelium (100 g per 40 kg). Cover the holes with straw or plug them using cotton/paper swabs or alternative methods.
  3. Allow the mycelium to grow for 4-7 months at a temperature of +7 to +27 °C.
  4. Place the prepared wood pieces in a shaded garden or a well-ventilated area.
  5. Harvest 1-2 times in spring and 1-2 times in autumn. Under favorable conditions, harvesting is also possible in summer.
Instructions for growing forest mushrooms in a personal plot under trees:

  1. Loosen the ground under the tree to create a depression of 15-20 cm, considering the location of the roots near the soil surface.
  2. Spread the mycelium evenly over the loosened surface, using 50 g per 1 m².
  3. Cover with a mixture of garden or forest soil and humus in equal parts. Sprinkle the earth formed during loosening on top.
  4. Planting can be done at any time of the year, provided there are no natural obstacles and under any tree species.
  5. During dry periods, water the area frequently, using 10 liters per 1 m².
  6. Mushrooms will appear in spring and autumn, but the first harvest may not occur until a year after planting. Waiting for 2-3 years might be necessary. The initial harvest will be around 350-500 g/m², followed by 1.5-2.5 kg/m² in subsequent harvests. The mycelium continues to grow for many years alongside the living tree.
  7. Annually, during the hot or cold seasons (when mushrooms do not grow), evenly spread humus and/or earth over the mushroom planting site at a rate of 5-6 kg/m².
