Very sparkly necklace. Serenite has almost the look of champagne colored diamonds. It catches the light / sunlight / moonlight and it will look like fire shoots out of it. The camera couldn't catch the beauty of the necklace. The Necklace is brand new and has never been worn......

The world Serenite – the name is used for exceptionally high quality Oregon Sunstone mined in the USA. Sunstone is the state gemstone of Oregon and has been mined here for well over 100 years. Serenite is beautifully clear and appears to exude a magic glow from within – an inner shine that stands it above other gemstones in pure unrivalled beauty.
So what is Serenite? It is a transparent to translucent aventurescent Plagioclase Feldspar. The gem naturally contains light reflecting copper platelets, which provide both the gem’s colour and its remarkable aventurescence (also known as schiller). The gem is pleochroic and just like copper bearing Paraiba Tourmaline, the gem has a slight neon appearance.
Serenite is so special because it contains copper inclusions (platelets) within the gem, which make it glow like a Paraiba Tourmaline, which also attributes its beauty to copper platelets. With so much sparkle being derived by the copper content, colourless pieces are very difficult on a visual inspection to tell apart from diamonds.
Serenite is ethically extracted from a remote mine located amongst breathtaking scenery in the centre of an ancient dried out lake in Oregon, USA. Serenite is a gemstone that literally glows with an incredible brilliance. In fact, back in the late 1840s, gemologists at Tiffany’s were said to have named the gemstone as an ‘Immature Diamond’. Without today’s modern technology and advanced research tools, they could tell the hardness was different to a Diamond, but they were unable to test its chemical composition. They therefore came to the conclusion that this incredibly bright and sparkling gemstone must be a Diamond that hadn’t finished growing. The Serenite mine is some 25 miles north of the nearest town of Plush and is located close to the original Tiffany’s mine. In fact, many many years ago Tiffany did market a small selection of incredibly clear Sunstone pieces from this area as ‘Plush Diamonds’.
