History : The Wasa, a 64-gun Swedish royal vessel, sank in Stockholm harbor on the same day as its launch (10 August 1628) due to a violent gust of wind. The hull, poorly sailed, tilted fearfully and the water poured inside through the open hatches. The ship settled on a seabed of 35 meters. Construction of the ship had begun in 1625, under the direction of the Dutch architect Henrik Hybertsson. Although some guns and a few other objects had been recovered previously, only in 1956 was it possible to bring the hull back to the surface. In 1958, partially rebuilt and restored, it was placed in the Wasa Museum of the same name in Stockholm. This reproduction is based on the excellent graphic reconstructions published by the management of the Stockholm museum. Thanks to the wealth of details contained in the assembly box, the "all cut" system and the drawings made up of 11 detailed tables, the model maker will not encounter difficulties in the execution of this model. The decorative part (more than 350 figures) is the work of the sculptor V. Marino of Milan.
