PRICE JUST REDUCED FOR CHRISTMAS.  Needs to go to a good home.  Will consider serious offers but I'm not giving it away.

Offered for sale here is a resto mod, customized, rare Barry Toycraft 1963 Corvette.  The body has been sprayed with red metalflake paint and placed on a sturdy go kart frame equipped with a new Monster Moto M80 gas engine.  Reportedly the engine was test fired by the builder and run until the gas tank was empty and it's been stored dry since.  Once the modifications were complete, the builder decided it was too nice for the grandkids to use.  I purchased it and used it as a static display with my full size 1963 Corvette convertible - see the photo.  NOTE: The full size '63 has been sold and is not included with this listing - the photo shown is to illustrate how I displayed the Corvette Go Kart.  Available for local pickup only. Deposit of $500 due at time of purchase, balance due via PayPal in 5 days or in cash upon pickup.

Below is information regarding the original Toycraft 1963 Go Karts:

Chevrolet used a Promotional Junior car in 1963 to promote the Chevy Corvette Sting Ray and just like many Juniors before it, they were used to get people in the showroom by using pressure applied by the customers children. As the kids lined up to take a test drive in the little Stingray the salesman was trying to sell mom and dad a new 63 Nova or Corvair or even a Corvette if he could get them to buy one. They were even promoted by the Dinah Shore program (she was a Chevrolet spokesperson). The production numbers for the Mini Vette was pegged at 1,200 and all done in red Gelcoat. The Vette was a single seater and had steering very similar to the vintage Go Karts. The body was made by a boat manufacturer in the ST Paul area, Luger industries. Like most of the Junior cars, power was derived from a standard car battery running a modified starter motor the frame also had a built in battery charger. Barry Toycraft was a division of ST. Paul Corrugating.  The little cars were assembled in a plant at 3rd and Water streets in ST. Paul Minnesota.

The B/W press photo shows Chevrolet General Manager Bunkie Knudsen (center) and General Sales Manager Larry Averill together with a suitably scaled test driver.
