Here is a vintage compact shape side plate, decorated with the Broadstone pattern, made by Poole Pottery Dorset England.

The compact shape was designed by Robert Jefferson in the 1960's, this shape has distinctive raised lines on the edge and was planned for ease of stacking. The Broadstone pattern is a rich speckled honey glaze with a dark brown boarder. Note if buying as a replacement that colours did vary slightly within the range over the many years of production. It is dishwasher and microwave safe.

The plate is 18cm in diameter by 2cm deep and the rim is 1.5cm wide. It is in good condition free from crazing, cracks, or chips, just some light surface marks commensurate with use or age may be seen on close inspection. On the base is the Poole pottery mark. The unpackaged weight is 292 grams.

A nick is a tiny bit of damage smaller than 1mm and a chip is something you can see with the eye; a hairline runs over the surface glazing but not the body of the item and a crack runs through the body of the item, usually weakening its structure.
