It was tested / works. Unit has several adjustments that can be made to it so you can fine tune it's operation once you hook it up.
Look at the photo's,
The base and cover are all painted brass. Those areas show some paint wear and you can see the brass underneath.
All of the exposed 'silver' screws, washers and lock washer are stainless steel as they usually are on these from Henschel.
The Cow-Bell is a cast brass which was painted Red my guess for ship board use. Note, the red paint is actively flaking off. It can be removed easily and repainted or the Brass and be buffed out. The underside photo of the bell shows patina expected to be on exposed cast brass after a few decades at sea. Again, this can be easily removed if desired.
The tag looks like it has been polished, perhaps more than once as I know when I served (81-86) we had to keep all "tags" on equipment free of paint/dirt/oxidation etc on all equipment, valves, lines, gauges, everything!
Had a half dozen of these type and was going to use 1 for my shop door bell but never got around to it.
