RARE ANTIQUE CAST IRON J & E STEVENS FROG ON ROUND BASE MECHANICAL BANK c. 1872.RARE ANTIQUE CAST IRON J & E STEVENS FROG ON ROUND BASE MECHANICAL BANK c. EXCELLENT AGED CONDITION/HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE IN ANY CONDITION. Presenting this incredible antique cast iron mechanical bank made by J & E Stevens Company. This bank was patented August 20, 1872 by Russell Frisbie of Cromwell Connecticut, assignor to the J & E Stevens Company of the same place. To use the bank, the frogs front foot is pressed down, as seen in the pictures above, causing the mouth to open. A coin is then placed the open mouth where it stays in place until the foot is released, thereby sliding through the frogs body and dropping into the base receptacle, taken apart for removal of coins. On the top round base reads. PAT D AUG 20.This bank is considered to be in excellent working condition. There are three lattice sections with a bank door design on each. Total weight is about 1.5 lbs.    4 3/8″ high with a bottom base diameter of 4 3/8″
