Beautiful 9ct gold pendant
featuring the wonderful and intriguing lilac and orange, two-tone shaded
gemstone, ametrine.
Ametrine is a rare gift of nature; a naturally occurring variety of
quartz and is a mixture of amethyst and citrine with zones of purple and yellow
or orange which combine and contrast uniquely in each gem so no two gemstones
look the same. Mined in the Anahi Mine Bolivia, it’s the only commercial source
of ametrine, so the supply is very limited.
Ideal stones for setting have an attractive half-and-half distribution
of each colour, with a sharp boundary between the two colours at the centre of
the fashioned gemstone, are eye-clean with no inclusions and with
rectangular cuts best showing off its unique appearance, all of which are the
case here.
This pendant comprises an 11.17ct stone the bale of which is set
with 0.15cts of round, white Zircon from Cambodia. The pendant has tiny
hallmarks which are too small to be photographed, but have a maker's mark
of CR, a Birmingham Assay Office stamp and a date mark of 2012. The 18 inch
long chain is also marked for 9ct gold. Pendant drop is 24cms/9.5 inches and pendant
total weight is 4.1g.
This is a gorgeous example of this stunning and rare gemstone. It would
make a unique gift or an impressive addition to a jewellery collection.
Please note, hallmarks can be seen with a loupe on the reverse on the bottom bar of the gold oblong frame. Photos are enlarged to show detail Scale can be assessed by
photos 3 and 14. Pendant will be supplied in the box pictured. Thank you.
