A 1913 original ink on linen map of the city of Greenfield Massachusetts. This hand-drawn map was made by the regional engineering firm Clapp & Abercrombie whose principal work in the previous decades was planning and designing the network of street railways (trolley lines) in Greenfield and surrounding towns in the Connecticut River valley and extending eastward to the Fitchburg area.  The map shows the street railway lines looping through Greenfield (heavy dashed lines) and crossing the river to Montague and Deerfield. This was a peak period for trolley lines. Within a decade private automobiles and trucks came into widespread use and the trolley lines folded. This map is notable for showing and naming every street and for depicting and naming  principal businesses, churches and public buildings.  At the bottom of the map the "Car Barn" for the Street Railway company is shown with 3 tracks leading in........ This is a one-of-a-kind map, taken from the files of F Deane Avery Associates, successor firm to Clapp & Abercrombie. This original was made on tracing linen for making blueprints. Very few blueprints from this map are extant today, and there is only one original. You can have it!-----
****Also see my similar 1915 linen map.**** This map does not outline the new street developments like the 1915 map does.  The street names are larger type on this 1913 map.......

Note:  some of the discoloring in the image was introduced by the scanning process. The map was not completely flat when scanned so you can see some shadows and wrinkles which will disappear when the map is mounted beneath glass....SIZE:  28" x 34"
