Tennant & Ward, New York (1899). Vol. 1/No. 9. December Issue. Editor: John A. Tennant. 56 Pages. 5 x 8 Inches. Book Condition: Very Good.

"Except the portrait there is no photographic reproduction which appeals so strongly to the lay mind as does the lantern-slide. To such a mind the slide is known, not as a small, carefully prepared transparency on glass, but as a huge brilliant picture appearing on the white wall of a darkened room. There is still a wonderful glamour of mystery in the great disk of white light as the pictures succeed each other upon it, or melt gradually from one to the other, and the old name of "magic-lantern pictures," used by the uninitiated, was singularly appropriate."

The Photo-Miniature was a photography magazine initially published monthly until around World War I, then published less frequently thereafter until the 1930s. Each issue covered a single topic, usually in a single article filling most of the issue. The remainder of most issues is then filled with short paragraphs on current events and some adverts. The magazine promises "all the news of the photographic world - men, methods, conventions, exhibitions and affairs of interest - discussed in pithy paragraphs and departments for profitable reading."

The magazine is in very good condition. Clean bright pages bereft of inscription, firm binding, vibrant covers, etc. Small spot of staining to bottom left front cover. Mild shelfwear. 1.5" inch seperation from binding at top of covers - binding remains very firm, however.
