Description: This game was produced by the Thai Silk Co with great
attention to detail and quality. The components are lovely. It is a
functional game and a work of art. The backside of the game board is
signed by the artist. The game rules are stored in a lovely cloth
envelop and are in English and Thai. The movers are realistic
rendered miniature busts of men who were important to Jim Thompson's
story and each mover has the name on the bottom, the slots in the
box also have the names for convenient storage; the back of the board and the bottom part of
the box that house all of the components are fabric covered.
Condition:
The components are in excellent shape; the game appears to have had
little to no use; the box is in really nice condition; there is one
corner of the box with some light compression damage and 1 corner with a little
wear; there is 1 small imperfection to the fabric covering the currency
compartment; please see pictures for more details
Background: Limited Edition Game Southeast Asian art game, designed by Thai contemporary artist Navin Rawanchaikul. It was created as part of a multifaceted showcase exhibition at the Jim Thompson House Museum, to celebrate the birth of the the legendary Thai silk king, Jim Thompson as part of an exhibition celebrating the colorful life of the famous businessman whose mysterious disappearance over 50 years ago continues to intrigue many. Jim Thompson was an American businessman who helped revitalize the Thai silk industry in the 1950s and 1960s. At the time of his disappearance he was one of the most famous Americans living in Asia.
