A pair of early 19th century Neoclassical bronze candlesticks crafted in the Renaissance style featuring rings of Greek key and rows of scrolling foliate motif.

An urn rises from the middle with an open top allowing a candle to sit decorated with various motifs such as more foliate rinceaux and gadrooning, along with figural grotesque handles on their sides.

Grotesque faces became a popular design motif following the Renaissance due to the discoveries of similar designs excavated from ancient Roman houses.

This pair are in fantastic condition and flaunt a warm patina.

Height: 15 cm / 6" - Diameter: 15 cm / 6" - Each weigh around 1.5kg.
