Marc Chagall (1887–1985) was a Russian-born artist whose colorful, fanciful depictions of peasant life, Judaica, and other subjects earned him a the twentieth century.

Chagall signed the letter on the original envelope, of which he also handwrote the delivery and return addresses. The letter is one page on La Colline letterhead, measur 1973, and in very good to fine condition with light staining to the left side.
