Mario Fernandez (Cuban, 1946-2012), American Bald Eagle "In God We Trust" Sculpture. Glass Eyes. Mounted on a square marble base with bronze medallion applied to the front dated 1984, signed and numbered by Mario F. Fernandez 171/350 on the front. 

Mario F. Fernandez (Cuban, 1946-2012) Imprisoned in Fidel Castro's Cuba as a teenager, Mario Fernandez fled his homeland that would lead through Mexico to the United States. It was during his confinement that the eagle became an important symbol to Mario. Dreaming of freedom, he would close his eyes and imagine himself to be an eagle soaring through the expansive sky.
