Magnificent piece of Ammassalimiut art from the 1960s/70s.

Carved from cedar wood, one of the most expressive Ammassalimiut masks I have ever seen.

Regarding the condition of the mask:

- the longitudinal cracks that furrow the face: it is difficult to establish with certainty whether they appeared over time or were already there when the mask finished being sculpted, but I am more inclined towards the second hypothesis: it is as if the artist had kept account, as if those wrinkles embellished the face and were not defects.

- even the small crack on the side of the chin, re-welded by a string, seems to be very old, perhaps contemporary with the creation of the mask.

_ there are some chips in some part of the mask: on the side of the nose, one at the top at the back and another, small and difficult to notice, on the left eyebrow.

In any case, the condition of the mask is extremely solid, and given the age, I would say very good.
