This Early Vietnam Era US Army USGI M1 Steel Combat Helmet, Liner, Chinstrap and Cover is in good condition overall and only shows modest signs of age, service and storage.

The helmet shell is heat stamp marked though the stamp is difficult to read but it is very similar to those found on Late WW2 shells produced by McCord Radiator Corporation. The rear seam and swivel bales would be correct characteristics for this era of production. Several soft dents can be noted on the exterior crown though they do not hamper proper installation of a liner. The current coat of green paint on the shell is mostly strong however there are noticeable areas of loss. Also of note, clean signs of a earlier coat of green paint can be seen in the worn areas of finish loss. The number "29" is written in black ink on the interior crown. The helmet liner is an early Post War produced example and is clearly tag marked by Micarta, which was a part of Westinghouse, and appears to be dated 1951 or 1954. The exterior OD Green finish shows wear from age and service but is still rich and vibrant. There is a small split that can be detected on the rear left neck skirt, it is well detailed in the photographs and does not appear to be worsening nor does it hamper display with a helmet shell. The internal web suspension is intact but several of the canvas bands have torn and the sweatband is missing.

Please examine the photographs carefully for the best description of condition.
