Beautiful Japanese hand painted Satsuma Pottery Teapot and Cover; Meiji ushirode kyūsu; decoration in enamel and gilt has with two scenes within a floral motif either side of the pot - one has a geisha carrying a baby and pointing a stick at a dragonfly - a boy sitting beside her is preventing his pet tortoise from walking away; the other scene has two boys trying to catch a butterfly; the lid has a butterfly with blooming flower (possibly chrysanthemum) and leaf finial; unmarked
Condition: a short tight star harline above the head of a boy in green top otherwise just age wear to gilding. no other damage good overall condition.

and 7cm base diameter
