You are bidding on a wonderful and very rare Antique John Wendt Medallion pie server with applied fly. It measures approximately 9.25 inches long. The pattern is Medallion which was introduced by John Wendt in the 1860’s.  Applied with its original screw is a wonderful fly perched on the neck of the blade. It is quite amusing to see a fly peering into the bowl where the pie or cake would be sitting. Rare whimsical decoration and certain to be a conversation piece if used. Unique piece and possibly a custom production item. John Wendt never signed his pieces and they were usually retailed by either J.E. Caldwell of Philadelphia or Ball, Black, & co of New York. The later shared the same building as Wendt. The server is in good antique condition with no relevant damage. The fly rotates in place on the server. No monograms or personalization of any kind. Hallmarked with 925 and retailer J.E. Caldwell.  Please review pictures and feel free to ask questions. If you collect medallion, this is the piece. I ship worldwide.
