Laughing Santa Claus , a Gund Creation, dated 1951 by the previous owner. This laughing Santa is all original with hat and jingle bell, felt scarf, belt with buckle, and the original Gund Creation sewn waist tag. The hand-crank in back, is to be turned at a medium clockwise motion and is directly related to the speed and pitch of Santa’s varied laughing voice. This laughing sound apparently is coming from a record playing inside Santa. After a number of laughs, a click sound re-sets it to the beginning of the record. This is presently working. Given the toy’s age, there is no saying how many laughs Santa has left. The box has much wear and tear, old yellowed tape leaving residue, box fading, spots and creases, tattered wear and some missing graphic . The box top lid is missing an oval center perforation. The box bottom has two end flaps but no lid. There are two writing inscriptions towards upper box panels. One is the name Santa, the other the year 1951. The Santa box measures 11 X 9 X 6 inches. See photos. The 15 inch tall Santa doll is in good used condition. It has matted faux-fur, good face and head paint with some handling or storage wear, and several stain spots on the hat as seen in photos. The hat can be displayed to hide or minimize the spots from view. The green scarf has faded areas which hardly show as worn. Brightness in photos such as the box tone and Santa fur may appear more bright on screen than in person. Santa doll and original box are being offered as found, as pictured and described.
