VICTORIAN

MARSHALL & PARKIN

SILVER PLATE/RUBY GLASS

SARDINE/BUTTER SERVER

VGC

A very fine example of the genre this late Victorian butter or sardine server with silver plated frame sports a clear hobnail glass basket with ruby glass borders and rim and finished with a star cut base. The frame is raised on four ball feet and possesses a quality double strand handle with a smaller ball to the peak.

It was made by Marshall and Parkin of Sheffield around the mid 1890 period. The RD Number to the base of the glass confirms this.

It is in super gleaming condition still with a generous intact silver cover and without chip, crack or restoration to the glass. The hinges to the handle work well and the handle stands in an upright position when required. There is a glass trail which would have happened during manufacture.

Displays beautifully and although commonly described as being for butter or sardines alternatively a selection of delights from your favourite chocolatier would look fabulously decadent.
