ENID COLLINS of TEXAS STYLE, (MOST LIKELY JAPANESE-MADE) MID-20TH CENTURY, POST-WWII, CIRCA 1960'S, VINTAGE BOX BAG 'BUTTERFLIES' HAND DECORATED, STAINED MAHOGANY EXTERIOR with HAND PAINTED GOLD GILT & BLACK ENAMEL PAINTED GRAPHIC ICONOGRAPHY WOODEN PURSE with
AFFIXED RHINESTONES of VARIOUS
COLORS & SIZES, MISSING ONLY ONE, AFFIXED ORANGE RHINESTONE, UNSIGNED
[This unsigned vintage reproduction, after the acclaimed circa 1960's vintage Enid Collins of Texas hand decorated ladies' wooden purse or 'box bag,' was most likely produced in Japan in the 1960's or early 1970's, styled after the original. The box is unsigned but has many of the same hallmark characteristics of the original vintage Enid Collins of Texas box bag, including the cut round mirror found on the inside hinged lid cover of the box. The box also uses a very similar vinyl clad handle, capped at the ends with hollow brass enclosures. The exterior sidewalls of the mahogany wooden box are stained with a dark walnut stain, typical of Japanese mid-century treatment of Mod period wooden furniture & period wooden accessories. The box also features similar silkscreened gold & black enamel paint, with distinct butterflies, also invoking a favorite theme found in original Enid Collins wooden box bag ladies' purses of that era. The only elements which identify this box bag as being possibly styled after the original Enid Collins box bag are its larger 11' x 8" box size & the fact that it's unsigned. It's only missing one small orange polymer rhinestone. In nifty shape, with only a few very minor scuffs on its edges. What are you wearing to your next cocktail party? Very nice.]
