Wow, what a rare find!
Beautiful,
robust
antique door hinges salvaged from Northeastern PA. They are solid, cast iron and
were made during the late 1800's. The set also comes with 24, old, flathead screws.
These hinges are extraordinary!
Each hinge weighs over 1.5 lbs and each leaf or half is 1/4"
thick.
We removed the hinges from a big, beefy Victorian door that we got locally. At
the point of salvage, the hinges were covered under numerous layers of paint. Since then, we removed the
paint and cleaned them to the best of our ability. There are some tiny spots of rust here and there, mostly in the corners where it was hard to clean.
The beauty and quality of the hinges are only matched by their impeccable
condition! Expect subtle nicks and
scratches, but no breaks, cracks, chips, or
gouges. The hinges open and close effortlessly, and the pins slide out easily.
These hinges are definitely ready for another lifetime or two of service.
