This is a decorated Japanese serving dish made of Antimony, in a fitted case with a pair of ivory-tipped bamboo chopsticks.  The dish features an ornate carving with a bird.  The dish is about 6 inches in diameter and 1.5 inches tall in a 5-petal Lotus Flower pattern.

The hammered bottom of the dish (picture 7) has the maker's mark, a small yacht with a "Y" on the right sail - this is the mark of "Y. in Yacht" or Yamatogumi Co., and was most likely manufactured after the occupation which ended in 1952. My family lived in SE Asia in the 1960's for several years and my parents most likely purchased it in Japan.

Antimony is heavier than silver and is often plated to look like silver.  This dish weighs 12.8 oz and feels very heavy for its size. It has some minor scratches on the surface and a little wear on the rim, which is very normal since Antimony is a relatively soft metal.  The dish is in excellent condition for its 60yr age since it has no dents and since the plating can be easily removed with use, polishing is NOT recommended.

The case is 7.25 inches square.  The inside has a yellow cloth padding and contains a pair of bamboo chopsticks which have small pieces of ivory on the end of their handles (picture 6).   The exterior of the case has some wear, which you can see in the pictures. The worst bit is a tear in the upper left corner (picture 3).
