Offered here is this Amazing Rare Victorian One-Armed Ladies Chair. It would have originally been a part of a parlor set which would have included a matching loveseat and a two-armed gentlemen’s chair. These one-armed parlor chairs were designed specifically for ladies of the time, with lower seats and only one arm, so that it was easier for them sit, and to remove their shoes, without having to bend over too far, and was very useful for them considering the gowns, petticoats, and corsets of the time. The woodwork and carving on this chair is in great condition, particularly considering its age. I am unsure of its exact age, but these types of chairs were made primarily between the mid to late 19th Century. The chair has a sleigh back curve at the top, and gorgeous carved details in the wood. The upholstery on the chair is very worn, tearing and stained. It will certainly need to be recovered. The wood framework on the chair, however, is in sturdy condition, and has exquisite design and detail that is typical of a furniture piece from this era. The chair is 29.5” tall at the back, 22.5” wide across the back, 23” wide across the front including the arm, is 21” deep at the seat, 25” deep total, and the seat is about 15” high. This is an amazing antique one-armed ladies chair that is a rare find, and a must have item to add to your antique furniture collection.
