AH 1385 PAKISTAN INDIAN WAR  1965 TAMGHA-i-JANG MILITARY GENERAL SERVICE MEDAL


Circular cupro-nickel medal with scroll and plain bar suspension; the face with the star and crescent of Pakistan centrally, the insigniae of the army, navy and air force above, left and right respectively; the reverse dated AH1385 / AD 1965 centrally in Urdu and Bengali characters, inscribed above in Urdu and below in Bengali, jasmine wreaths to either side.
The medal was instituted in 1965 and awarded for service in the war with India of 1965. Following skirmishes and alleged Pakistani incursions, India invaded Pakistan-administered Kashmir on 15 August 1965 and a five-week war culminating in stalemate and a United Nations ceasefire followed.
