The standard-body 757 and the wide-body 767 twinjets, are shown above in model form. Both programs are under way at Boeing Commercial Airplane Company plants in Renton and Everett, Washington. The 767 program go-ahead came in July 1978 when the initial order for 30 of the new 210-passenger airliners was recéived from United Airlines. Signing of contracts with British Airways and Eastern Airlines for a total of 40 got the 757 program fully under way in March. Both of the new-generation airliners are designed for maximum fuel effciency.

The first 767 will be delivered in August 1982, and 757 deliveries will begin early in 1983.
