The scroll came to Israel from Austria and is approx. 300-400 yrs old. The writing style and script is very unique and not seen on scrolls written today, Scrolls of this age are not found and extremely important for its utmost rarity of the earliest examples of the Ashkenaz Jewish tradition. The present fragment offered is the witness to various customs concerning its letters, and as a whole the writing of a Torah. There are many special characters and Spirals in this Torah, for example, the 'Pe lefufa' or spiral Pe [ פ] having its 'nose' twisted inwards (it was also called 'a double Pe' that means a Pe having another inside) These special characters has a kabalistic meaning to them.
