It functions as a safety device. When the circuit becomes overloaded, this circuit breaker switch interrupts the transfer of electricity to the motor. Flip the switch on the circuit breaker to reset the connection. 

Please make sure to refer to the appropriate diagrams for your model for the correct location and application of this component. 

A screwdriver will be needed to replace this part.
