ANTIQUE

WHITE CALICO PARASOL

c1890/1910

RARE CONSTRUCTION

Estimated to have been made around the late Victorian or Edwardian period (1890-1910) this creamy white calico cotton covered parasol sports a rare and interesting metal construction regarding the frame as is shown in the images of same. It is furnished with a yellow early composite handle.

It is in reasonable condition for its antique years, opening and closing as intended being structurally sound, but there is some staining and some brown marks to the calico caused by the rusting to the frame and handle shaft as can be seen in the images and one or two little holes near the stitching but the fabric is in the main still suitably substantial. A few rib ends have missing beads but long enough to secure when furled.

Displays well for its genre and age, we have in no way attempted to clean it.
