The stylization of the face and the silhouette aesthetically gives the Metoko statues an irresistible "little robot" style
Settled in the heart of the equatorial forest, in the region of the Middle Lwalaba, the Metoko would be the descendants of Lega migrants (according to the oral tradition of the Lega themselves)

Like the Lega, their political and social life is organized around an initiatory association, the BUKOTA, which can be compared to the BWAMI of their ancestors.
They are also culturally very close to their neighbors Lengola who practice the same cult as them (See Felix page 110)
