Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a very nice older Turner 22X crystal microphone from the 1940's. This heavily deco inspired piece with satin chrome finish makes this one of the most widely recognized "bullet" style microphones ever produced. The 22 series came in several different styles over the years with the only changes coming in the lower half that carried the Turner badge and the type of element used. The 22 microphone either had the crystal element or the Dynamic element. All 22X's carried the crystal element which did not hold up as well over the past 70 years.

Pic # 2 is from a 1940's catalog showing Turners line up and some basic specs on these mics.

You generally rarely find one that works well or works at all. This one sadly...is one of them. The mic does have the original element inside still. It's still very nice cosmetically speaking but this should be used as a nice display piece. It comes with the period Astatic E6G model desk stand shown.

This unit has the early lower half with round front and rear along with black Turner badge. The overall finish is very nice with just a few tiny scratches but zero pitting or dents in the finish. I would give a this mic a true 8 on a scale of 1 - 10. A true piece of Americana and a conversation piece anywhere it sits.

Front screen is free of dents and there are no odors. The inner cloth screen is perfect as well.

The threading for the cable and mic stand are perfect. No issues. The joint mechanism has plenty of tension as well holding the head of the mic firmly in place. Solid inside and out this mic was built to last.

MICROPHONE STAND IS PART OF THIS SALE...

Microphone stand is a 1940's era detachable Astatic E6G microphone desk stand. This stand was typical for it's day having an aluminum base with detachable wood handle allowing the user to disconnect the mic easily while having a sturdy handle attached to the mic to walk around with. This model was only manufactured for about 20 years before it was discontinued.   The stand thread itself is universal and any mic will technically mate to the top of it.

This particular stand has very lite wear on both the handle and base. Please let the detailed pictures be your guide. All 3 original rubber pads are still present and will keep the stand from scratching any surface it sits on. Mic stand is appx 10 1/2 inches tall X 5 inches wide.

The black wood handle comes off of the base with a half twist and is held in via tension.
