Full Name: John James McDougall

Death: December 6, 1960 (Los Angeles, California)

"John James McDougall was the son of Robert McDougall, a wounded veteran of the Civil War, and his wife, Agnes (Dow) McDougall, of Michigan (both formerly of Scotland, and later of California). He is mentioned in his mother's 1919 widow's pension application as John J. McDougall, born June 23, 1873, at Lansing, Michigan, still living and under the age of sixteen. John worked as an Examiner of Titles in the Title Guarantee and Trust Company of Los Angeles. He married Mabel E. Cunningham on May 29, 1913, Los Angeles, California. The couple had no children. There is a D.A.R. record for Mabel E. (Cunningham) McDougall. Mabel died in 1951, and John then married Alice K. Whitten, daughter of Emery Whitten of Thorndike, Maine, on January 9, 1952, in Santa Barbara County, California. Alice was 52 years old at the time of her marriage, so it is unlikely that she had any children. The couple resided on South Cimarron Street, where they were living at the time of John's death on December 6, 1960, in Los Angeles. Alice was the informant on his death record. Her husband's remains were cremated, and there is no record of whether they were accepted by the family or interred. Alice (Whitten) McDougall died in 1984 in Los Angeles. It is possible that she was cremated, though nothing more is known, so far. This memorial has been created based on the death record of John James McDougall, and other biographical information researched by Deborah K. Pritchett (Southern Muse)."
