Jack (Jac) Elmo King (1920-1998) was a gifted sporting and Western painter whose artistic journey was as diverse as his subject matter. Born in Phoenix, Arizona on December 31, 1920, he pursued his passion for art after a stint as a draftsman at Douglas Aircraft during World War II and his service in the U.S. Navy. Jack's post-war adventures led him from California to Texas, Kansas, Washington, and Idaho, all the while maintaining his love for painting as he worked tirelessly in various engineering roles. In 1970, upon retiring, Jack dedicated himself to his true calling, painting full-time. His evocative works, often showcased at the Calgary Stampede Western Art Auction, found a global audience through an exclusive Canadian agent, leaving an enduring legacy of captivating Western art that continues to be celebrated to this day.
