Here are two unusual and elusive Georgia "Unit City, State" error franking label covers of 1996 to Europe or sent by certified mail. Rather than giving the town and state name they say: "UNIT CITY, ST" and 00000 for the Zip Code. These occurred because the system required that the town and state name be entered in the label machines in the morning, but if the operator forgot to do this they went to the default wording. They have mainly minor bumps, creases etc. from postal handling, The dark areas on some are from light leaking in to my scanner and are not on the originals. Some of the printing doesn't show up well on the scans but is easy enough to read in the flesh.

1. A small cover that probably held a Christmas card from Laurenceville GA to Hillbrow, Nr Liss, West Sussex, England. The 60-cent label is dated Dec. 14, 1996. The postmark is of North Metro GA

2. A business-size certified return receipt requested envelope from Conyers GA to Fidelity National Mortgage, Decatur. The $2.10 label uprates a 32-cent rose stamp. The North Metro GA postmark of Dec. 26 1996 ties these plus the certified mail label. The label is also tied by a Decatur double ring vermilion counter handstamp of Dec. 28. The bottom line of the address is covered up by a postal code label. The remnants of the return receipt are still on the back of the cover.

Unusual franking error and modern postal history covers.

The postage costs on this item are higher than I would like and, after leaving them unchanged for several years, I have raised them slightly in line with the 2021 postage rates. I use good British stamps on all my mailings, which are hand cancelled at my village post office, and these should result in collectable stamps for the buyer. I advise that items costing more than £25 be sent via tracked post and cannot be responsible for such items sent by ordinary post.

As I have some fixed-price lots, anyone who makes a purchase might want to look at them before paying. If you buy more than one item, please wait for my invoice so I can combine postage

When payment is received by teatime British time (it is usually dished up about 4:30) I normally post the item the next morning. Our village post office is closed on Saturdays, however, so if you pay on Friday the item will not go out until the following Monday.
