BOUGHT OF HENRY WOODWARD, DRUGS, MEDICINES, CHEMICALS… Middletown, Connecticut: Henry Woodward, 1870. Original billhead/receipt from Middletown, CT druggist, Henry Woodward. Large engraved receipt (14 x 8.5 inches); signed revenue stamp on verso. There are 5 entries for Opium (almost monthly), plus entries for Laudanum, Whiskey, Alcohol, and various “medicines,” and “recipes.” The purchaser was the Town Of Middletown, CT. An interesting piece of material history, documenting our longtime use of opioids and alcohol as medicines. Very good condition, creased at old folds. Please see images to help best assess condition.
