Conventional wisdom is that approximately 10% of 1958-P mintage is the Type 2. 

I think it was Walter Breen that originated that figure and it has very often been repeated without questioning his figures.

However that is ABSOLUTELY WRONG! by at least one magnitude. From what I have seen the true figure is somewhere in between 
0.5% and 1%, making this variety a true sleeper.

This variety will very likely be included in the next upcoming edition of The Cherrypickers Guide. When that gets published this coin is poised to zoom upwards in value, as it's true scarcity will quickly become apparent when folks actively start looking for them.
