1981 Greco Super Real EGF-850 Heritage Cherry Sunburst w/HC, All Original, Japan, MIJ
Available for acquisition is an exceptionally preserved and completely original 1981 Greco Super Real EGF-850—a replica of the renowned '59 Les Paul Burst. This rare find showcases a striking Heritage Cherry Sunburst, complemented by a rich dark rosewood fretboard. The sale includes a rectangular hardcase, with a Les Paul shaped internal.
Renowned as one of the premier Japanese Les Paul replicas ever crafted, the EGF-850 boasts a construction of old-growth mahogany for both its body and neck. It adopts the revered '59 round profile and is accentuated by an Indian rosewood fretboard. Enhancing its sonic excellence, the guitar is equipped with exceptional Maxon-made PU-2 humbucker pickups.
In terms of condition, our Greco exemplifies excellence, presenting a remarkably clean exterior with only a couple of noteworthy blemishes. Firstly, there's a slight chip located on the front-right face of the body, and secondly, a minor paint chip on the headstock veneer around the bass E-string ferrule. Both imperfections have been diligently photographed for reference. Aside from these extremely minor cosmetic flaws and occasional surface scratches, this instrument maintains a remarkably pristine condition considering its vintage. Consistency reigns throughout the neck and fretboard, showcasing a clean feel. All 22 frets exhibit minimal signs of wear, ensuring a seamless and effortless playability across the entire fretboard. Retaining the slightly-aged patina, the original hardware complements our Greco gracefully, its nickel now tastefully tarnished, adding character in abundance. The all-stock electronics operate seamlessly, with the “PU-2 PAF pickups delivering some of the richest PAF tones encountered – velvety yet punchy! This one weighs in at a reasonable 9.25lbs.
