Important: Dymo made some changes on the LabelWriter firmware. For LabelWriters bought after 1st of March 2024 there is a risk that the LabelChip is not working, depening on stock age at your store. For LabelWriters bought before this time, the LabelChip will keep being supported (software cannot disable the labelchip). For new LabelWriters there is no solution yet. If you are facing this issue, you will get a refund excluding the shipping cost.

Since the introduction of the new generation labelprinters of Dymo labelprinters only original labels are compatible. 3rd party labels cannot be used anymore due to the application of a small chip on the label roll which is read by the labelwriter. The LabelChip is a smart chip which replaces this process. The original label roll reader will be replaced by the LabelChip and makes possible that 3rd party labels can be used again.
For mounting the LabelChip you only need a screw driver. You can always go back again to the original configuration.
The LabelChip will be programmed for a specific label type which is recognized by the Software. But you can also use the LabelChip to print all other labels.
