Vintage French coffee bean chestnut roaster

This very old coffee bean roaster came from France and would of been filled with either chestnuts or coffee beans then placed above the fire whilst cranking the handle, giving off that lovely aroma of roasted coffee beans or chestnuts!

It is slightly rusty but I assume this is the natural metal finish as any painted surface would obviously burn off in the fire. The wooden handle has a slight amount of play in it where it has dried out but nothing major.

I can see no reason apart from a good clean why it can’t be used again.

Internal blade is present if a little dusty as can be seen in the photos along with all dimensions

Would make a lovely addition to any fireplace or an interesting point of discussion but very tempting to give it a go on those soon to be cold winter evenings with the fire burning bright!
