Pilot Elite Turquoise Silver 18K ‘SCRIPT’ nib Con 40.

This beautiful example of what Pilot dubbed their ‘lady pen’ range when it was released, comes with an 18k fingernail type ‘Script’ nib.

The description of the script nib is:

Script Nib. In the late 1950’s Pilot phased out the Stenographer nib (Pilot’s stenographer nib utilized a long nib blank with medium fine point and with very little flex) and replaced it with their Script nib. This nib was very similar to the Stenographer’s nib, but with a rounder grind on a larger ball of iridium. They were designed for people who had to write quickly for long periods of time. Whilst the nibs are designed for quick writing I do find many of them have a bit of feedback, and this pen was no exception. It did write nicely but it certainly didn’t glide over the page. The line is consistent with a medium fine and I found it didn’t skip on any of the lines I laid down on the sample.

Nib itself is in good shape, a little dull and some scratches but nothing too obvious.

The cap is in good condition, a few pits and scratches which show up in the photos. The photos were taken in pretty good light so as to expose all flaws.

The clip is sturdy and in good condition, some of the photos show some plastic wrap on the tip, this was from packaging and has been removed, but I didn’t have time for new photos.

The barrel and section are both turquoise and are in rather good shape, you will notice two dark blue lines running down either side of the section below the nib. These I presume are ink stains, I haven’t tried anything to get them out, but they’re almost completely even and I found them quite endearing.

Gold ring and connector have been cleaned, as has the cartridge connector. Sometimes the metal connector can go a bit rusty in the middle, but it has been scrubbed and shows no sign of fatigue or warping to the metal.

The con-40s supplied with these pens are new or nearly new, and have been cleaned. The plastic box is supplied with all Elites and Sailor pocket pens to keep them safe, they’ll be sent out with an additional layer of bubble wrap.

All pens have been cleaned before and after testing, but it’s always best to rinse them out before inking up.

Returns are not normally accepted on used items, unless they arrive damaged. If you are unsure you can message me beforehand and I can allow returns for pens which have only been dip tested.
