A three panel folding screen / room divider with beautiful original floral / rose still life oil paintings on canvas by Dutch artist Anna Alice van Heddeghem. Lots of gorgeous details in the paintings.

The artist is known to have moved to north London at some point and her work flourished / was exhibited in London and other parts of Britain between 1904 - 1927. including the Royal Academy, Baillie and Abbey Galleries in London and Walker Gallery in Liverpool.

Each of the three panels of the screen are part glazed with an original oil painting at the bottom.  The paintings are oil on canvas.  They are beautiful flower still life paintings with pink roses being dominant.

The artist is know to favour seasonal flowers from Britain, France and Italy.  She is known to have often sourced her flowers from the Covent Garden Flower market in London.  She preferred natural garden roses to more formal / stiff ones.

Each panel painting is approx 116 cm tall x 40.5 cm wide.

Sadly one of the panel paintings is badly damaged.  (See photos 15-17).

The middle panel is the painting with artist signature.  (Photo 2)

The wooden frame of the panel has some nice decorative details - but please note a couple of the wood decorative flowers are missing.

The screen has obviously had various attempts at repair / renovation e.g the glass in the top section looks new as does the trim on the reverse side holding it in place (photos 22-24).  The cloth and trim on the back also looks more recent than the original flower panels.

Please see all photos.

The screen is striking and I needed it for a visual work project.  I am a bit tempted to remove the paintings from the screen and sell them separately - though I am also mindful of their original purpose.

The overall height of the screen is approx 168.5 cm and each panel approx 47.8 cm wide.

The screen is for collection only - I am based in north London, N8

Thank you for looking.
